Australian Government Primary Principals' Association (AGPPA)

This body is a collective forum for all Government Primary School Principals' Associations across Australia. There is a need to promote partnerships across Australia in:

  • Professional development, accreditation, recognition
  • Leadership Centres
  • Common Key Competencies
  • National Educational issues such as National Profiles, School Starting ages, National Monitoring of Standards
  • Self Managing Schools

AGPPA is a subset to the Australian Primary Principals' Association and aims to promote and enhance this national body.

The Australian Primary Principals' Association is the cross sectoral voice for all Primary School Leaders in Australian, including Government, Catholic and Independent Schools. APPA is a strong national lobby group which has much influence at the Federal level and as such indirect influence at the state level. APPA is a strong and viable professional organization which has a history of successful services, support programs and representation for principals and is striving to meet future needs.

APPA operations include:

  • National representation and working parties to address important educational issues at a national and local level. Current examples include Equity funding for Primary Schools and Early Intervention
  • LOTE
  • Students with Disabilities
  • National professional development opportunities through APAPDC
  • National Conference
  • National Networking
  • National research and awards programs
  • National collegiate recognition through Fellowship awards
  • National Professional lobby group

Membership to both AGPPA and APPA comes automatically with WAPPA Ordinary and Life Membership. Thus all the operations and services are available to members of WAPPA.
