Life Membership
Life Membership of WAPPA acknowledges membes who have rendered long and valuable service to the Associationa and education in Western Australia. Life Members are honoured at events such as the annual Conference Dinner and at the Appreciation Sundowner.
The APPA National Conference Country Representative Award
The APPA National Conference Country Representative award is presented annually to a country member who has retained WAPPA membership for an ongoing period and who has contributed in some aspect to the benefit of the Association. The award, sponsored by Moore Perica, covers travel, accommodation and registration to the APPA National Conference which is held annually either interstate or in New Zealand. All country members are encouraged to apply for this award. The award is presented at the WAPPA AGM which is held in conjunction with the WAPPA State Conference.
The WAPPA Wooldridges Level 3 Innovation Award
The WAPPA Wooldridges Level 3 Innovation Award is offered annually to all Level 3 members. The prize for this award is costs associated with travel, accommodation and registration to the APPA National Conference to the value of $2000. If the total $2000 is not used for the APPA Conference, the winner can use the balance of the funds for registration at the next WAPPA Conference. This is a very generous award provided by Wooldridges and once again is only available to WAPPA members. The details for nomination are advertised in term 1 each year.
WAPPA Service Award
In 2002, the first WAPPA Service Award was presented to Pat Hooper, who the Board deemed had contributed a great amount of support to the Association. The award recognises 'friends of WAPPA' who have contributed to the Association at an outstanding level. Service awards are usually given each year and are announced at WAPPA's Annual Conference.
Outstanding Leadership in Aboriginal Education Award
This inaugural award was developed in 2006 through a partnership between WAPPA and the Department of Education and Training and was presented to Felicity Dear, Principal of Djidi Djidi Aboriginal School. The $10,000 award covers travel, accommodation and other costs related to study of other schools and education systems to help improve education for Aboriginal students.This award has been discontinued from 2009.
Police & Nurses Professional Study Award
This award is offered to WAPPA members to provide the opportunity for an individual member to develop leadership skills through further professional study and/or engage in action research that will benefit primary education. The award is to support study costs including books, travel, accommodation, course fees and/or relief to provide time for significant study or research to be undertaken. The award is for a maximum of $5000.
Travel Assistance Scheme
WAPPA offers members the opportunity to apply for travel subsidies to engage in action research activities that will contribute to their personal professional development. Subsidies are available to meet 75% of the cost of the trip to a maximum of $1000 per member.
Konica Minolta/WAPPA Aspirants' Awards
Annually aspirant members are invited to apply for this award to support an action research project. The award is sponsored by Konica Minolta and allows successful applicants to receive $1000 plus an Apple Ipad.
