Leadership for Numeracy Learning (LfNL) Project

This is a one year project designed to enhance school leadership in numeracy - the project concentrates particularly on number as a foundational element of the learning area. The project is based on the assertion that sustained curriculum change is most likely to occur when it is orchestrated by school leaders with the principal playing the pivotal role. Leaders will receive professional learning in both the content knowledge they need to lead numeracy learning and the application of instructional leadership to improve teacher and student performance. This professional learning is based on contemporary research.

Participants in the project will take part in five spaced workshops over the year and their accumulated learning will culminate in the design and application of numeracy intervention in their schools, based on the diagnosis of quality evidence. Schools will be supported by the services of an experienced mentor to assist them to interpret the workshops and apply this knowledge to their school context.

The project has been based on the very successful model for the Principals as Literacy Leaders (PALL) project
