Program Overview:

Transitions of any kind are major challenges, however, the transition from teacher to Deputy Principal is more complex than most. It requires a high level of preparation regarding mindset, skills, knowledge, relationships and organisation. A well planned transition has the potential to bring early success, and the key to success is having a plan. This workshop will address the key research on role transition and will give participants a clear perspective of what they need to do, demonstrate, understand and develop before they make the leap.

Program Objectives

  • Examine the role of the Deputy Principal.
  • Explore the research and theory about role transition.
  • Develop an understanding of the leadership and management skills required for the role.
  • Consider the differences between current role and the role of Deputy.
  • Identify the skills, knowledge and experience that will enable you to be competitive.
  • Begin a planning process for making a successful transition to the role Deputy Principal.

Cancellations and Refunds:

Registration fees, minus a $33 administration fee, will be returned for cancellations received more than 7 days prior to the event.
No monies will be refunded for cancellations received within 7 days or less of this event.
A substitute registration can be registered up to 7 days prior to the event at no additional cost if completed on-line.
If the WAPPA Business Centre is required to modify a registration, or the modification takes place less than 7 days prior to the event, a $33 charge will be levied.
If a non-member of WAPPA is registered as substitute for a member's registration, then the difference in rates will be payable, in addition to the $33 substitution fee.
WAPPA reserves the right to cancel a registration if it conflicts with our partnership or membership obligations. Where a registration is cancelled, registrants will be notified by email and receive a full refund.
