It’s the soft skills that will have the most powerful effect in 2022. This session will explore micro and macro behaviours of contemporary school leaders leading in complex times. This session will also focus on using reflective practice and contemporary leadership skills in developing, growing, and stretching school teams in 2022 and post COVID-19.

Wellbeing in Schools: Three forces that will uplift our students in a volatile world

The pandemic afflicted our students and teachers with terrible problems. But it also woke us up. Wellbeing moved from the back of the school bus into the driver’s seat. For seven years, my colleague Dennis Shirley and I worked with educators in 10 districts to study how they were rolling out wellbeing strategies. This webinar will share what we’ve learned from this work – not just about why we need to place more emphasis on wellbeing, but how to do it, and how to approach it with more depth and challenge too.

  • How should schools address the ill-being caused by too much testing and examination.
  • What ethical strategies should they adopt to manage and monitor digital harms like excess screen-time.
  • How can wellbeing and academic success be brought together rather than being dealt with by different people in separate compartments?
  • Is there a trade-off between wellbeing and academics? Are some effective pedagogies just not very joyful?
  • What does it mean for wellbeing to be spiritual, physical and societal, in nature and not just psychological?

Wellbeing shouldn’t just help children be calm and resilient as individuals in a bad world. It should also rouse them up to envision and build a better world together. These are some of the themes this webinar will address.

Growing Up Digital: Towards digital wellness for all

Digital media and technologies have become an integral part of our lives. In the post-pandemic recovery, it is obvious that how we live, learn and work will be increasingly defined by available technologies. With these significant advancements also come challenges and risks: How to enjoy these benefits without jeopardising our wellbeing, health and relationships. This session will draw from the global Growing Up Digital study. Using findings from Australia as a basis, Pasi will offer an optimistic look at the current situation of young people growing up in a digital world and explore practical ways to improve digital wellness for all of us.

Webinar 4 – Tracey Ezard
