Monday 17 October saw the annual Life Members’ Lunch held at Ambrose Estate, Wembley. Vice President, Dean Finlay was MC for the event and conducted a lovely Acknowledgement of Country on the decking overlooking the golf course. Members then sat down for a meal and enjoyed the opportunity to catch up and reminisce, whilst sharing stories of what is currently keeping them busy. For most it was travel and grandchildren, whilst a small number were still engaged in consultancy and volunteer work. Guest speaker for the event was current WAPPA President, Niel Smith. Niel provided an insight into how the history of the association has played a pivotal part in shaping the current position, and future aspirations, of the association. Niel paid homage to the Life Members in attendance, identifying ways in which their leadership traits had helped shape his current leadership style. The afternoon concluded with Life Member and former WAPPA President, Rudy Rybarczyk, providing some closing words of thanks and acknowledging those members who had made significant effort to attend this important event.
