Board members and Chapter Chairs met for two days last week, at WAPPA’s State Assembly. We tried a new venue for this end of year event and the Double Tree Northbridge proved to be a great location, with members enjoying the bright lights, busy streets and hidden eateries that Northbridge had to offer. When it was time to work, the two days provided members a great opportunity to contribute to WAPPA’s future plans, programs and initiatives, as well as the opportunity to hear from Department personnel, across a range of areas.

Department presentations included their Cyber Security team, Directors of Principal Professional Review and Standards and Integrity. The information provided by all three teams was extremely useful for Chapter Chairs and as you could imagine, there were numerous questions from the floor, that resulted in all three presentations being of great value. We also heard from a range of much valued WAPPA Partners across the two days, as well as from the Smith Family, who were promoting their Think Equal reading series, designed for primary aged students.

WAPPA specific business consisted of reviewing our Strategic Plan performance for 2022, reviewing Awards and Grants moving forward and taking a deep dive into the issues, and possible solutions, pertaining to Student Complexity in Schools. It is our intention to develop a Position Paper on this topic during Semester 1 next year. Thank you to all members who contributed to these discussions, by sending information directly to us, or to your Chapter Chairs.

During the State Assembly, at the end of Day 1, we held our annual AGM, Awards and Sundowner. This was a wonderful event, with very worthy award recipients and a great deal of collegiality, that lasted well into the evening. More information about this event can be read here.
