Kaya.
I would like to extend a warm welcome to our newest WAPPA members:
Annalyn Navarette, Karratha PS
Kellee O'Dwyer, Bridgetown PS
Rosie Paine, Sheoak PS
Kristin Pittard, Osborne PS
We look forward to providing you with the Support, Advocacy, Leadership Development and Connection, that WAPPA is renowned for.
Likewise, we welcome your voice to the ongoing discussion around primary education and school leadership, through the numerous avenues provided to our members.
Staffing Reminders
Given the current situation regarding isolation of staff and relief shortages, I thought it was an opportune time for two reminders:
- Table 14 of the 2019 School Education Act General Agreement outlines the internal relief rates for all staff, including school leaders. If you are providing coverage for classes due to absence, please make sure you claim the appropriate remuneration.
- Please remind your staff to check their booster dates on the HRMIS calculator, so that they can receive their booster and/or enter their data into HRMIS. The last thing school leaders need at this time, is to manage unnecessary Stand Down procedures.
Women of Achievement Award
I would like to extend my congratulations and best wishes to the five finalists in the Department's Women of Achievement Award, being presented this Friday 4 March. I have had the pleasure of working with all the finalists in previous roles and all of them are worthy recipients of this recognition. With International Women's Day next Tuesday 8 March, I would encourage all members to take a moment to recognise and celebrate the strong and influential female voices in their school communities.
AGPPA Election Priorities
As you know, WAPPA membership automatically affords you membership to AGPPA, of which Ian Anderson is the current President. AGPPA have recently met with a number of education representatives from the various political parties, during which time we have been advocating for AGPPA's election priorities. A copy of these priorities is attached for you. AGPPA's priorities very closely mirror WAPPA priorities at a state level, in relation to equity in resourcing and school leader health and wellbeing.
As is always the case, please remember that we are never far away, should you need to click, call, or chat.
