Kaya. We would like to extend a warm welcome to our newest WAPPA members:
- Brayden Cook, Safety Bay PS
- Anthony Greco, Mullaloo Heights PS
- Kate Rennie, Lake Monger PS
With half a school term still in front of us, we are very pleased to advise that our 78 new members, is the highest number of new members in a calendar year, in many years. We look forward to being able to support you and your leadership needs, and to advocate on your behalf.
WAPPA STATE ASSEMBLY & AGM
As previously mentioned, the WAPPA AGM will be held on November 7, in conjunction with State Assembly. Chapter Chairs and Board members will be discussing a range of issues, impacting on the work of WAPPA, but also on the critical issue of Student Complexity in Schools. We have sent Chapter Chairs a paper with a range of discussion points, for members to contribute. These discussion points focus on:
- WAPPA awards and grants;
- WAPPA strategic performance this year; and
- Student complexity in schools (the issues and the possible solutions)
Please take some time to familiarise yourself with the Agenda and Discussion Points and send your thoughts directly to your Chapter Chair.
If you are a voting member, you would have received an email containing all the information, notice, documents and links pertaining to the AGM. A Proxy Voting Form was attached to that email, with instructions on how to submit your vote, should you be unable to attend in person.
Please send your Proxy Form in, if you are unable to attend the AGM.
Advocacy & Support
In the last fortnight I have truly enjoyed visiting members and school leaders across two regions. In Week Three, I attended the Southwest Principals' Conference in Busselton and this week I am at the Kimberley Schools Leadership Team Conference in Kununurra. In both settings, I have enjoyed the opportunity to discuss the issues that impact school leaders in the regions, most. Whether that be isolation, staffing and housing, through to Professional Learning access and opportunities, it is always reassuring to be able to provide possible solutions, offers to support or advocate, or learn more about their needs, in order to better refine WAPPA's operational strategies.
At a system level, we have been providing feedback into a number of key documents and processes, inclusive of the Networks Review, Focus 2023 and shortly, Water Safety and Swimming processes.
A small number of WAPPA members have this week made the trip to Sydney for the 2022 APPA Conference. This delegation includes previous WAPPA prize winners and a small contingent of Board members, to seek new contacts, networks and ideas for our own 2023 Conference.
