CONFERENCE WRAP UP & FEEDBACK SURVEY Thank you to all who attended the 2023 Concept AV WAPPA Conference, last week. With close to 440 registrations and 375 attendees at the Gala Dinner, it was truly a fantastic experience. The WAPPA Business Centre and WAPPA Board would like to thank delegates and exhibitors for your participation and contribution across the three days. In the coming weeks we will publish a range of photos and articles, written by our members, from conference. In the meantime, we have put together the attached Gala Dinner video, for you to enjoy.
We are now very keen to seek your feedback on this year's event, as planning for 2024 has already commenced. We have sent an email directly to everyone who was registered and we would strongly encourage you to complete it this week, as it is a very short survey.

ADVOCACY MEETINGS In the past two weeks our focus has been on conference organisation, however WAPPA Board members have had a presence at the following meetings:

SUPPORTING STUDENTS WITH COMPLEX NEEDS POSITION PAPER Since launching our paper, there has been significant interest from a range of educational stakeholders, both here in WA and across other states. The paper featured in a number of presentations at conference, given the theme of Looking to Tomorrow. It was certainly pleasing to note the Minster for Education, Tony Buti MLA, refer to the paper in his address. The paper lent itself to discussions about future funding with Pasi Sahlberg, the challenges for school leaders in planning for the future needs of students with complex needs with Anne Knock and of course the current challenges we all face, which Lisa Helenius accurately outlined on the Expert Panel.
With a number of guests in attendance over the three days, our paper was also taken by Shadow Education Minister, Peter Rundle MLA, Shadow Minister for Early Childhood Education, Donna Faragher MLC and the Commissioner for Children and Young People, Jacqeline McGowan Jones. We have follow up meetings planned with some of these stakeholders, in the coming weeks.
WAPPA SUPPORT Members are reminded of our 'round the clock' support service, with a dedicated email address and private support number (see link below). We encourage you to print the flyer below and keep it close to your work space and at home. |
