For those who don’t know me, I am a current WAPPA Vice President and the Conference Convener. I have spent the last 14 years as Principal of Ocean Road Primary School in Dawesville. Prior to that, I worked in a range of urban, rural, and remote schools across the state, with a couple of brief stints as a Principal Consultant in the Kimberley Regional Office and the Leadership Centre.
In my new role, my core business is to ensure that you, the membership, get the support you need. We have a fantastic team of Membership Support Officers (MSOs) in Julian Vinciullo, Greg Brice, Phillippa Berkhout, Jan Applin, and Tom Campbell. Lorna Woodley and Rudy Rybarczyk are our reliable relief MSOs. They are here each morning during the school Term and nothing is too minor to call and have a chat. Depending on the complexity of the issue, calls can be referred to myself, Ian Anderson, or Liesl Quince, our Legal Counsel.
A key part of my role is to support our highly valued membership groups, including our Aspirants, Alumni, WAPPA7s, Chapters, Collegial Groups, and our Wellbeing committee. I will be making contact with these groups in the near future if I haven’t done so already.
In addition, I will be assisting Amanda McGovern, our new Manager, Professional Learning in delivering some of our signature Professional Learning programs.

The team at WAPPA have been working tirelessly in preparation for the 2021 Fotoworks WAPPA Conference. Due to the hard border restrictions put in place for New South Whales, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia we have had to pivot and make some minor adjustments to the program. The updated version of the schedule is now available on our website. Registrations close this Friday, 30 July, and are very close to selling out. Register now to secure your place. |

Grattan Institute is asking Principals, Deputy Principals and Assistant Principals to complete a 10-minute survey to better understand the issues impacting Australian teachers' time. Their goal is to leverage your voices to inform recommendations to the government on education policy. If you have time, please find the survey here. |
